The History of Lime Begins with the Extraction of Raw Materials
Mining is the first step on the way to the final product and sedimentary limestone is the basis of our products. Very large grains and an excessive proportion of fine particles have a negative effect on the final product therefore special attention is paid to this process. When processing raw materials special attention is also paid to the purity of the material and the required grain size. From the material being transported, impurities are removed by using newest high-pressure water cleaning system.
The limestone is then passed through a roller crusher and a sieving device to supply predetermined raw materials for the production of lime, building materials and cement.
Lime production
Lime annular shaft kilns produced by Wärmstelle Stein und Erder with a capacity of 200 tons per day started operating in Zagorje in 1971. Annually we produce 130.000 tons of calcitic lime, which calcines at temperatures from 1000 °C to 1250 °C, depending on the type and ingredient of the raw material or the customer’s requirements. As the energy source we use natural gas which has the best efficiency between the consumed and transmitted energy. We ensure the high quality of our products and optimal conditions for lime burning by constantly monitoring and updating kilns, controls and processes.
